Reaction

Reaction is a thirty-second test of speed and aim. Coloured targets drift across the screen and shrink away to nothing. Pop as many as you can before the clock runs out.

How to play

  1. Press Play to start a round. The clock starts at thirty seconds.
  2. Targets appear one by one, each in a random place and colour. There are never more than three on screen at once.
  3. Each target drifts in a straight line and bounces off the edges, so it never leaves the screen.
  4. A target shrinks as it ages and fades out after a little over two seconds. Once it is gone, you can't score it.
  5. Click or tap a target to pop it. Each pop is worth one point.
  6. Click or tap empty space and you lose half a second from the clock.
  7. When the clock reaches zero, the round ends and shows how many targets you popped.

A new target arrives just under once a second, as long as fewer than three are showing. Popping targets quickly makes room for the next one sooner.

Scoring

Your score is the number of targets you popped in one round. A miss doesn't take points away, but the half second it costs means fewer chances to score. Your best score shows on the title card, and "New best!" appears when you beat it. Every finished round is offered to the all-time leaderboard, which ranks each player's highest score.
