Grid Run

Grid Run is a race across a 6×6 board to a yellow flag. Every step counts as a move, and red squares stand in your way. Clear 25 boards in as few moves as you can.

How to play

  1. You start on an empty square. The flag is somewhere else on the board.
  2. Step to any of the eight squares around you, diagonals included. Each step is one move.
  3. Reach the flag and the next board is dealt, with one more red square than the last.
  4. Step on a red square and the same board is dealt again, in a new layout. The move still counts.
  5. Board 1 has one red square and board 25 has 25.
  6. After the flag on board 25 the game is over, and your total moves are your score.

The edge of the board stops you, and a step that is blocked costs nothing.

Bonus squares

From board 11, a blue bonus square sometimes appears. Step on it to take 10 moves off your total. It is worth a short detour, but only a short one.

Scoring

Your score is the number of moves it took to clear all 25 boards, after any bonuses. Fewer is better, and the leaderboard ranks the lowest totals first.
