Block Drop

Rotate the falling blocks, fill whole rows and clear them before the stack reaches the top.

Block Drop

Block Drop is a falling-block puzzle. Seven shapes fall one at a time into a well ten squares wide and twenty high. Fill whole rows to clear them, and keep the stack from reaching the top.

How to play

A piece appears at the top of the well and falls one row at a time.
Slide it left or right and rotate it to fit the stack below.
When it lands, you have half a second to slide or turn it before it locks. Each move on the ground resets that timer, up to fifteen times.
Fill a row from edge to edge and it flashes and clears.
The game ends when a new piece has no room to appear, or a piece locks entirely above the well.

The Next box shows the piece after this one. A faint outline shows where the current piece will land. Pieces come from a shuffled set of all seven, so every shape turns up once in every seven pieces. A rotation that hits a wall nudges the piece sideways to fit.

Controls

Mouse / touch: drag sideways to slide the piece one column at a time. Drag down to drop it faster. Flick down to hard drop. Tap to rotate clockwise. Touch screens also get buttons for every move.
Keyboard: ← → or A D move. ↓ or S soft drops. ↑, X, W or R rotate clockwise; Z or Q rotate anticlockwise. Space hard drops. P or Esc pauses and resumes.

Leaving the tab pauses the game.

Levels

You start at level 1 and go up one level for every ten lines you clear. Each level makes pieces fall faster, until level 15 and beyond, where they fall at top speed.

Scoring

One line: 100 points times your level.
Two lines: 300 times your level.
Three lines: 500 times your level.
Four lines at once: 800 times your level.
Soft drop: 1 point per row. Hard drop: 2 points per row.

Every finished game is offered to the all-time leaderboard, which ranks each player's highest score.

Tips

Leave one column open at the edge and save the long piece for it. Four lines at once pays 800 a level, against 600 for two pairs.
Watch the Next box and plan where that piece goes before the current one lands.
Use the landing outline with Space for fast, exact drops.
Slide a piece under an overhang during the lock delay to fill gaps a straight drop can't reach.
